I know, I know! That’s not a picture of a cake. But, there is more than one Idiot’s Delight. So thought I’d dazzle you with both. This picture is of an MGM movie called Idiots Delight starring Clark Gable and Norma Shearer in 1939. Now I know you’re thinking that isn’t even close to the civil war era, but hey……. made ya look! 😛
Alright, here’s the real Idiots Delight. It’s made from commodities easily obtained by the soldiers. It’s sinfully sweet and well fattening. It’s easier to make than your bed, and takes about as much time to prep this as it does to brush your teeth. And the sweetest part of it all, even your kids can do it.

For the most part this is a VERY vague recipe. But in it’s simplest form, I have to say it is one of the easiest to make. Enjoy! 😀
