Peanut Butter Dog Bone Dog Treats

Peanut Butter Dog Bone Dog Treats

I love cooking, baking and making things with my own two hands.  Animal treats are of no exception.  I was going through the store one day, and came across these cute little “doggie bone” cookie cutters.  They come in small, medium, and large and a variety of colors.  I of course, took one of each color, and size.  (Don’t ask me which store, I’ve been making them for 25 years, and that’s too long ago to remember.)

Now this winter was a long one, and cabin fever was setting in pretty good.  I could curl up with a good book (or my laptop lol) and be good to go.  But kids are a different matter.  So we took to task making these irresistible treats.  I’ve never seen dogs go crazy over a treat, but these will surely make them stand on their heads!

DIY Raised Garden Beds

DIY Raised Garden Beds

The time has come to share some of what we’ve been doing …

The temperatures here still seem to dip below freezing at night.  And our little sprouts are ready to be planted.  But they will fair far better in our mudroom than outside in the cold cold night air.  As we wait for the temperatures to rise so we can plant our little gems of goodness, we still have plenty of work ahead of us preparing the gardens.

This year we’ve chosen to do raised beds.  As the collector of fine junk and the purveyor of needless necessities, I have just such an item to meet the needs of these projects.

Earth Day

In keeping it GREEN, we are doing our annual planting of the family garden and taking in all the great things Mother Nature has to offer.  Recently it was Earth Day (April 23, 2011), but for us it has been a month (if not decades) of Earth Day.

In addition to the many DIY garden projects and home-school science projects we have going, Earth ‘month’ has pulled it all together into one nice neat little package.

Annual Farming Day

The Annual Farming Day was April 12th.  Alright, you may or may not have known that.  But I’m here to tell you, that I think it’s a wonderful opportunity for everyone to get in touch with Mother Nature.

Now, if you missed out on the event, it’s ok!  You will have another opportunity coming up….  Earth Day is April 22, 2011.

Skunk Soap

Here is a little tidbit of a recipe that I found tucked away in a book that actually had nothing to do with recipes OR skunks. haha

Deskunk it!

A Touch of Country….

As Spring is upon us, I think of spring cleaning, updating outdated styles and putting a new spin on outdated furniture, clothing and the like.  Yet, wanting to keep the standard of the Western Lifestyle and not compromise that Western Way of Thinking I’m so fond of.  (Yes, I’m thinking about gardening too, but that’s a story for another post later.)

Now, I’m seriously country.  As I said before, if it has a horse in it, related to it or just a horse period,  I WILL like it!  So as I sit here staring at the panelling in my house I ponder the possibilities of updating an old look.  Without breaking the bank to do it.  Or, overloading my already hectic schedule with one more project.

Let’s make it Western
