Mexican Lasagna

Mexican Lasagna

Here’s another quick and easy recipe, that I think would be great to get the kids in the kitchen.  If you thought the kids did great at making their own pizzas……… give this one a try!

I must say, I’ve had some real doozies of mistakes in the kitchen.  However, I’ve been able to pull it all together and make it look like I meant it to turn out that way. 😛  shh – that’s our secret.

Here’s the recipe

Trivia Tuesday ~ The Tin Can

Trivia Tuesday ~ The Tin Can

Trivia Tuesday, question of the week…  Everybody ready?
What took hours to make, was made of iron, dipped in tinplate, then soldered closed?

Did you guess the TIN CAN?  Ok, did you really know o.O  … Or did I give it away with the picture.

Well in my quest for the history on the coolest inventions ever made that have changed our lives forever, I came across this great information.  It intrigued me so much, that I’ll be doing a piece on… (Can you guess? :P)…. THE CAN OPENER!  Oh, I’m so excited, I can’t wait any longer.  So let’s get started!

Bisquick Recipe

Now who wouldn’t want to know this recipe?  It’s quick, it’s simple and it stores well.

And if ever you’ve been camping, you know the value of pre-planning.  Not to mention, the advantages of dry goods (with multiple uses) that store well in the chuck wagon or chuck box.

Pumpkin Bread In A Can

This is an interesting recipe.  We went camping one time and I forgot a few things.  Like a pan!  So I improvised just a smidge and this is what I came up with.

You can use this camping, at your next BBQ or any other time of the year.  Check out my “helpful hints” at the bottom of the recipe for some clever gift giving ideas.

Hush Puppies

Now I’ve always known that Hush Puppies are something you eat.  However, when I was a kid, there was a shoe that came out call Hush Puppies.

It’s a given, I’m not going to be talking about a shoe or better yet, telling you how to make one.

This is the real deal.  Another delicious recipe, that is quick and very simple to make.

Cowboy Bread

My Aunt, Jolene Miller (Bachman), was the President of the Arizona State Cowbelles for two consecutive years, 1982 and 1983.  I would also like to mention here, that she was, Vice-President of the Arizona Cattle Industry Research & Education Foundation, Field Crop Superintendent for the Maricopa County Fair.  And she actively worked with the 4H and the FFA receiving, the Honorary Chapter Farmer Degree in 1977.

Many years ago, I received a wonderful present from her, that I have cherished ever since.  An original cookbook of the Arizona State Cowbelles.  It’s filled with some of the most wonderful recipes ever created and it’s a collection of recipes from Cowbelles throughout the state.

From these very pages, come my next recipe.  Not that I didn’t have enough of my own to share, but this one was just too good to pass up.  It was submitted by Carole DeSpain of Snowflake, Arizona.
