Trivia Tuesday ~ Ice Cream Receives National Recognition

Trivia Tuesday ~ Ice Cream Receives National Recognition

Trivia Tuesday!  Ready?  Ok, this is corny, but it’s the best clue I could come up with.
I scream, you scream, we all scream – – – ?

That’s right, everyone’s favorite…. ICE CREAM!

It will be honored this month.  And it’s official too!  In 1984, former President Ronald Regan proclaimed July as National Ice Cream Month.  Now I don’t know about you, but ice cream is my favorite, any time of year!  But, if they want me to eat more ice cream in July, I can certainly do that, and I’m sure the kids and grandkids won’t mind doing their part in helping celebrate either. 😛

Make that a triple decker!

Trivia Tuesday ~ Snack Cake Wars

Trivia Tuesday ~ Snack Cake Wars

What has two chocolate sides and a creamy filling in the center?  If you said an Oreo cookie, you’d guess wrong.  Here’s a few more clues;

  • What may have been originally known as the Gob?
  • What looks like an over-grown Oreo cookie but isn’t?
  • What has Maine and Pennsylvania in a lawsuit over possession of its origin?

No it’s not an ice cream sandwich.  And no, to my great dismay, it isn’t the Gobstopper from Willy Wonka either.

Trivia Tuesday ~ The Tin Can

Trivia Tuesday ~ The Tin Can

Trivia Tuesday, question of the week…  Everybody ready?
What took hours to make, was made of iron, dipped in tinplate, then soldered closed?

Did you guess the TIN CAN?  Ok, did you really know o.O  … Or did I give it away with the picture.

Well in my quest for the history on the coolest inventions ever made that have changed our lives forever, I came across this great information.  It intrigued me so much, that I’ll be doing a piece on… (Can you guess? :P)…. THE CAN OPENER!  Oh, I’m so excited, I can’t wait any longer.  So let’s get started!

Trivia Tuesday ~ Toast on wheels

Trivia Tuesday ~ Toast on wheels

No it’s not actually toast on wheels.  But it IS Trivia Tuesday!  So the question is, “Where did the idea for a toaster originate?”.

The first “automatic” turnover toaster was patented in 1914 by Lloyd Copeman.  The patent, however, is held by his wife Hazel B. Copeman.  It is believed that his wife wanted a better way to toast the bread and asked her husband, Llyod, if there was a better way to do it.  From there history was in the making.

Turn the toast please

May 16th ~ A Not So Trivia Tuesday

May 16th ~ A Not So Trivia Tuesday

Never fear, Tuesday is here!  No, it’s not really Tuesday, but I couldn’t resist sharing another one of the great things we’ve been doing.

One of the best things I love about my family, is that it’s always “family” time.  Working or playing it’s all about the family, and moreover all about the kids.  No matter where we’ve been, what we’ve been doing, and where we’re going in the future, family is always the largest part of the equation.

It’s been said that kids are our future.  And if you take care of the future, the future will take care of you.  So having said that, it’s really all about the kids and grandkids isn’t it?  Raising them right, and making sure they now the past (which to me ensures their future successes).

Let’s tackle them one at a time.  First, let’s cover Trivia Tuesday for May 10th.  What is so historical about May 10th?  Anything come to mind?  I actually came up with a couple of things on my own, but for the most part I had to google it.  I found some pretty interesting things.  Here’s a short list for those wonderful history buffs.
